Gore Place Sheep Shearing, Gore Place, Waltham, MA, April 26. Show had good attendance for children's activities. Adults avoided artisans. Very few people even looked and I just made my expenses. A Touch of Crafts, Town Green, Fairfield County Alumnae Delta Zeta, Fairfield, CT, April 26. Location is great so lots of traffic. One vendor had obvious buy/sell. A small show but could be an elite one, too. I think the economy kept my sales lower than might have been but still good. 46th Annual Spring Meet the Artists and the Artisans, Milford Green, Denise Morris Curt, Milford, CT May 10 - 11. Denise has done it again. I don't know how she does it but this show is not to be missed. Always a wide range and wonderful assortment of fine, new quality artists and fine artisans. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of fine jewelry and lack of abundance of beaded jewelry which is usually a problem at most other shows. All categories were limited and what a wonderful selection. Bravo for show VERY well run. Wonderful food and music as always. Artisan Market 2008, Reed Intermediate School, Newtown, CT, Piper Promotions, May 17. Very nice crafts, very easy set up, no customers (the weather outside was beautiful.) Local deli took lunch orders - very nice. Volunteers available for quick booth watching - lots of space. Low customer turnout. Outdoor Craft Festival, Bruce Museum, Greenwich, CT, May 17 -18. One of the best shows in CT. Great craftsmen, maybe a wee bit too much jewelry. The jewelry at this show sort of tends to all look the same and is really top stuff that you would see in a store, maybe more cutting edge jewelry would be better, not so much cookie cutter, bling bling stuff. Nice balance otherwise. The crowds were down a bit. Nice wood crafts, metalwork, sculptures, clothing. I did notice that the same people tend to be coming back which may make the show stale after a while, need to get new people in. |
