15th Annual First Baptist Church Essex Arts and Craft Show, Essex Town Green, First Baptist Church of Essex, Aug 18. Wonderful people running this show held in a stunning location on the water in Essex. They helped people unload and set up, very accommodating. Good crowd, a lot of tourists, for a small show. The weather was good, which helped, but I would try this again. Friends of Suffield 37th Annual Craft Fair, Hatheway Barn, Main St. Suffield, CT Sep 8 - 9. This show can get a good buying crowd. It is held in conjunction with other town events. I have consistently sold here for the 9 or 10 years I have done it. Coffee and donuts, easy set up. Needs more quality crafters and artists. Windsor Lions 15th annual Fall Arts/Crafts Show, Windsor Green, Oct 6. Lovely day, a little hot. More lookers than shoppers. The Chili Cook-off brings out the crowds, but not the shoppers. Help with tent set-up was appreciated. Lions were very helpful and friendly. Would apply again for Fall Show and do own local advertising for my products. Scituate Arts Festival, North Scituate, RI, Oct 6 - 8. This is a big show with huge crowds, don't know if they limit crafts, I have art, different sections, plus an antiques section. You can sell a lot here, but the crowd is not as large as years ago. They made some improvements to check in and other aspects. Coffee and donuts each morning. This year everyone received a commemorative pen to celebrate the 40th year. 26th Harvest Festival, Guilford Town Green, Guilford Civic Women, Oct 13. No Street Signs! Long haul to the booth for unloading if you could even get a parking space by the green to unload. Shame on the vendors who were setting up as they unloaded. Booths could have been located closer to the street making it easier, otherwise, good layout. I heard this group didn't advertise which was reflected in the amount of customers. No booth sitters as promised. Luckily there are very nice crafters that watched the booth for a quick break. This group needs to learn there is more to running a craft show than collecting the booth fee. Fine Arts and Crafts Festival at Roseland Cottage, Roseland Cottage, Historic New England, Woodstock, CT Oct 13 - 14. The perfect show, nice size, good mix of art and crafts, good quality, beautiful location, and a crowd that waits to come to this show. It maybe was a little slow this year, but can have fabulous buying crowds. Volunteers to get food, indoor bathroom for exhibitors, coffee and donuts, love this show. 27th Annual Arts and Crafts Fair, Alcott School, Wolcott, CT Oct 20. The location is a bit remote, but the layout was quite good, help was forthcoming if I needed it, and my crafter "neighbors" were pleasant. Attendance was lower than expected. Seymour Heart and Home Craft Show, Seymour Middle School, Newcomers of Seymour and Oxford. Oct 20. Layout was average. Even though most of the items were handmade, a few vendors had some imported items out for sale. The event managers didn't ask them to remove it. Also, vendors who were selling (for example) silk flower arrangements would also have a small section in their booth with jewelry. There are enough jewelry vendors out there without other crafters cross-selling categories. St. Mark Craft Fair, St. Mark's Church, West Hartford, CT Nov 10. 2 reviews 1 The layout was good, comfortable rooms, overall positive show experience. Unfortunately, the turnout was disappointing. There were only about 500 customers coming through. It seemed the majority of crafters were 1st timers to the show, and many buy/sell (too many). Perhaps a closer eye on the quality and validity of hand-crafting would improve the quality image of this show. 2. Not truly just a craft show. Although an open show, some vendors included book and Avon sales. Show very slow. Lots of lookers, not many buyers. Quaint show with some beautiful crafts that just weren't fully appreciated. Excellent hospitality from church members, great food, nice location, easy set-up. Made only 5x the booth fee. I'm local, so I might apply again but must do my own promotion. 7th Annual Holiday Craft Bazaar, Hebron Avenue School PTO, Glastonbury, CT Nov 15. Cold, rainy Thursday night. Very low traffic. Most were just looking. Barely made 2x the booth fee of $35.00. Sleigh Bells Ring, St. Maurice Church, Bolton, CT. Nov 17. 7 Reviews received. Overall rating: Excellent. Were imports allowed? No. Would you apply again? 7 Yes. 1. Lovely location, nice, pleasant, helpful people, great food. Hel unloading/loading greatly appreciated. Parish Center is a much better location than the cold Church basement. Spaces are very small and way too close to each other. Beautiful crafts and lovely displays. Crowds came, but seemed more interested in Christmas items. 2. This was one of the nicest shows I have done. The show had some of the highest quality items I have ever seen - at reasonable prices. 3. Always a good show - always a good crowd. Promoters very helpful, especially when working your booth alone. 4. Excellent show always!! 5. Would like to be in busier location of fair. 6. Very well organized and advertised. Lots of shoppers all day and they were buying. Volunteers around to help unload and to get lunches. St. Gregory Holiday Craft Fair, St. Gregory CCD Center, Bristol, CT Nov 24 - 25. Excellent show as far as crowd, location, Santa and promoter. Easy set-up. Friendly/helpful parishioners and crafters. Delicious, inexpensive breakfast and lunch available. Beautiful crafts. Again, spaces a little too close to each other, can't work booth properly. Sales were good, but could be better. It's probably just the economy. Two-day show with a 5:00 p.m. end time on Saturday, way too long. Show should end at 3:00 p.m. each day, possibly just a one-day show. Sunday's crowd was steady but more customers on Saturday. Will return next year. Hartford Christmas Expo, Hartford Expo Center, Hartford, CT Nov 30-Dec 2. Too many food dealers. Was expecting a crafts show but found too many buy/sell and import dealers, and the quality of many of the crafts was just average. Show staff was very helpful before the show. Attendance was low. |
