Exhibitor Show Reviews Appearing in the May/Jun 2007 Issue

Guilford Woman's Club Craft Show, Guilford Green, Guilford, CT. October 14. 50 - 99 Exhibitors. One review received. Comments: Very good layout, friendly people. Customers came to buy. I talked with several other crafters I have known for many years. They felt the same way. I had three sales before the show started. Coffee and donuts are a nice touch. Although there were imports in this juried show, I really do not believe the promoters were aware at the time and I don't know if anyone complained. I never see anyone do what I do (woodburning), so the imports do not affect me. Definitely a would do again.
Our Lady of Mercy Holiday Boutique, Mercy School PTO, Mercy School, Madison, CT. November 10 -11. 50 Exhibitors. One review received. Comments: Show runs Friday night and Saturday. More customers on Saturday but more buyers on Friday night. Not only did they have coffee and donuts, they had free lunch for the artisans, and it was not just hamburgers. How about lasagna, soup and salad. In the afternoon, they brought around snack bags for all the artisans also. They layout was very good, but lighting was poor. To compensate they took the time to call the night before and arrange for free electric hookups for everybody. The woman in charge tried very hard to make up for any oversights. Signs were poor, and not enough. Much of the traffic came in by mistake, thinking they were coming to another show next door. That not withstanding, I believe they will improve greatly for next year in that area. They did do extensive advertising via papers and radio. Definitely will do again.
Old Deerfield Christmas Sampler, Old Deerfield Craft Shows, Eastern States Expo, West Springfield, MA. November 17, 18, and 19. Over 200 Exhibitors. One review received. Comments: Only country crafts or food items under $20 were selling. Floor plan was confusing. Rules listed in the application were not always enforced. Show promoter assigned to section was not visible for most of the show even when request was made in advance for restroom breaks. No parking lot security when loading.
Partridge in a Pear Tree, PTO of Consolidated School, New Fairfield High School, New Fairfield, CT December 2. 43 exhibitors. One review received. This once excellent show is going downhill. It is not a juried show - of 43 vendors, 14 were jewelry, 1/3 of the booths. High quality vendors have gone elsewhere, apparently. Editor's note: We have been trying unsuccessfully to find a contact person for this show so that they can list with us. One of their problems seems to be lack of advertising. Please send us any contact information you may have about this show. Thank you!
